Tokenism? Vice in Go-Go Boots? The new daughter-in-law? VPILF?
I posted twice the comment I wish my enemies won by cunning rather than Teh Stoopid, so here, a theory on the rationale behind the Palin pick: It's a win if it works, a bigger win if it explodes.
Say Democrats, the media, crush her - and she looks imminently crushable. The pigs get a three-fer: PUMA idiots happily deepen and broaden their idiocy, voting away their daughters' rights; the pigs will justify, under the cover of faux-righteous squealing about Liberal sexism (they'll call it "chivalry") Operation Nigger Nigger Nigger; if Palin is crushed, she's a Christer-martyr, and Cracker-Christer mobilization on the ground can counter Obama's.
UPDATE: More cunning all the time.
UPDATE: More cunning still.
And supposing she's more than a bint in a lake handing out scimitars? That's the worse case scenario.
The rube in me requires me admire the play, even if McCain's calculus was fuckyouing his party for denying him Lieberman. There is no cunning in Dildoic-Americans.
UPDATE:
Another reason I thought Palin might be picked was so God of Crackers would spare Louisiana Gustav during the Gang of Pigs convention, sending the hurricane to some brown people in Mexico as thanks, but maybe appeasing God of Crackers had a different motive: No Cheney, no Bush at convention.
Cunning!
- Greenwald is outraged at pre-GOP handling of potential protesters.
- Good thing Democrats respected protesters at their convention. Yes? Yes?
- On entertainment value.
- McCain's folly.
- MILF-in-Chief! is worth reading for more than that snark.
- David Broder is toolfoolstool.
- David Ignatius is too moronic to be tool or fool or stool.
- New Bacevich reviewed.
- The price of being black.
- Palin on Obama.
- Fall book review mentions Bolano's last, new Saramago, new Roth, and a sequel to Witches of Eastwick.
- How scummy reviewers work.
