Too cute by half and too fat by tanker, Jonah Goldberg (aka DoughBob LoadPants*), in a column today in the LA Times (and remember, the LA Times fired Robert Scheer to give his position to LoadPants) attacks the Democratic winner of the 2008 presidential election for proving that Democrats can't be trusted to fight terrorism, which is precisely why it would be a good thing if a Democrat wins in 2008. Got it? Too bad for you.
David Brooks on the other hand, devotes his column to defending Hillary Clinton. He starts:
Far be it from me to get in the middle of a liberal purge, but would anybody mind if I pointed out that the calls for Hillary Clinton to apologize for her support of the Iraq war are almost entirely bogus?
As a Stalinist hankering to dispatch the enemies of the proletariat to North Dakota to dig canals to nowhere, let me say the sting of that highly original zinger ouches me!
How much do they fear Surge Obama? Take aside one's feelings about Obama himself, what the Right fears IS the outsider. It needn't have been Obama, just a natural politician abundantly charismatic appearing as the only alternative to anyone (which means almost everyone) tainted by Bushstank.
LoadPants is already conceding the election and claiming the resulting debacle is all part of his greater plan. Brooks is trying to rehabilitate Clinton in order to legitimize her campaign against Obama.
Rightleadinglights. Oy. Their concern for America in general and Democrats in particular is Bushstankily tainting.

Dennis Ross, in today's Post, on Israeli-Palestinian negotiations:
Of course, the compromises won't be one-sided. But is Israel likely to contemplate excruciating concessions on Jerusalem or territory with a Palestinian government led in part by those who refuse to acknowledge its existence or renounce terrorism? My point is that the political options available for peacemaking between Israelis and Palestinians have been reduced. And Rice's efforts have to be guided by what is possible, not by what is most desirable.
Emphasis mine. There is a crucial difference between being MOST powerful and being ALL powerful. Not only is no one, no country, capable of being ALL powerful. It is immorally absurd to even want to be ALL powerful.
Awareness of this is the crucial distinction between Americans and Pignican-Americans, who operate on the principle that not only are we already ALL powerful, we can be even more ALL powerful, and have both the moral right and the moral obligation to be.
Awoooo! Know you understand the madly brilliant logic of LoadPants! Awoooo!

Speaking of which, many are commenting on Glenn Reynolds call for assassinating anyone he doesn't like, but starting in Iran to get things rolling. Here's Tennessee Guerrilla Women.
This does mean, logically, that Reynolds would agree that Iranian secret agents have the moral authority to kill American leaders and scientists, right? Right?
Of course not. We're ALL powerful, not them, so don't be silly.
